A Dream to Reality

First, it was only a dream of establishing a computer educational center right here in Agoo, La Union, Philippines. Then the dream became a reality in the year 1987 month of April. The Agoo Computer Center/Philippines, started it’s first operation as a computer center catering to young kids, students, professionals and non-professionals.Short term computer courses were offered: Basic Computer System, Programming Fundamentals, Advanced Programming, Integrated Software Packaged Courses, Basic Computer Electronics and Computer Technician. The Agoo Computer Center/Philippines first computer laboratory room was the first floor of the Estrada residence located in Cases Boulevard, Agoo, La Union. In that same year, Engr. Alex A. Valdez, who served as the President/Chairman of the Board registered it with the Philippine Security and Exchange Commission (SEC) naming the computer center Agoo Computer Institute, Inc. a non-stock, non-profit non-sectarian computer educational institution. The school operated as Agoo Computer Center/Philippines (ACC/P) from 1987-1994. After seven years of operation as a computer center, the school change it’s name to Agoo Computer College, Inc. in the year 1995 with the opening of degree courses in computer science and computer secretarial. The founders Engr. & Mrs. Alex Valdez revises it’s curricular offerings to meet the challenges in the world of computer specially the introduction of INTERNET . Ladderized courses leading to a 3 year degree programs in Bachelor of Science in Computer Science major in Software development and 3 years degree in Bachelor of Science in Secretarial Administration major in Computer Secretarial Education are some of the few pioneering curricular courses introduced by the college. The administrators call it the best alternative for those students who would like to go abroad at once with the computer curricular innovations designed by the founders wherein the students were given certificates of completion for every year/ladder that they have completed leading to their degree Bachelor of Science in Computer Science major in Software Development and Bachelor of Science in Secretrarial Administration major in Computer Secretarial Education. In the year 1997, The Commission on Higher Education (CHED) through Republic Act. Number 7722 was created and Techical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) was also created through Republic Act 7796 .The Agoo Computer College/Philippines, Inc. links its curricular offerings with the Commision on Higher Education (CHED) and TESDA. Government Recognition for the Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and Bachelor of Science in Secretarial Administration where later issued in the year 1997 month of April Government Recognitions in the short term Basic Computer System, Computer Programming, Integrated Software Packaged Courses, Computer Secretarial and Computer Technician where likewise approved by TESDA in that same year. The college had come a long way with graduates from the short term courses and ladderized courses employed abroad and in the Philippines, the town of agoo,province of La Union, where the Vice-President/Registrar/Treasurer of the Board was born.
